MEET GABI, YOUR PERSONAL MYOFUNCTIONAL THERAPIST

Coming with a solid dental education, after practicing dentistry for a few years in Romania, working with kids and adults, I chose to remain in the dental field and continued my work in the dental hygiene niche.My breakthrough moment came in 2014 after listening to 2 strong voices on craniofacial development and myofunctional concept- Dr. German Ramirez and Dr. Barry Rafael.

It was my moment when I simply knew what my mission was. It was the moment I started seeing things differently and connecting the dots.

I am not a speaker but rather a passionate clinician.

Hello and welcome to Myo Place!

I hope this will become your Functional place for a Healthier you!

I have the chance today to tell you that I live in joy and gratitude as I realized the purpose of my journey in life.

I am proudly born, raised, and educated in Romania. Quite a few years back I moved with my family to Toronto and for a while, I kept asking myself what my higher purpose would be to justify such a significant change in my life.

With 25 years of dental experience, enhanced by continuous learning in the field of Myofunctional Therapy, Orthodontic concepts, Buteyko Breathing retraining, Cranial Nerves dysfunction, Primary reflexes integration;

I started looking at my patients differently, identifying the common stemming cause of a multitude of clinical scenarios.

I realized day-by-day that in today’s world we became familiar with THE COMMON but let’s not confuse it with NORMAL.

YES, WE THRIVE BUT WHAT IS THE COST ?

We came to think that is OK for us or our kids to mouth breath, to walk around with mouth open and dark circles under the eyes, to develop allergies to everything we eat and breath, to snore & toss, sweat, and wet the bed at night, to grind or clench the teeth and have daily headaches.

We accepted that most kids now have a certain degree of ADD/ADHD and put them on pills; that crooked teeth, abnormal swallow, and messy eating runs in the family;

We witness patients, family, and friends pilling class after class of medications to control acid reflux, diabetes, and HBP and still walking medically uncompensated…

Why look and hear…

Identifying improper orofacial muscular function will prevent distortions in craniofacial development as muscles always win over bone.

Functioning through compensation patterns will induce asymmetries, deviations, rotations, compressions with a high/negative impact on breathing/ airway,  dentition alignment, chewing, swallowing, speech, and ultimately on overall mental and physical health.

60 % of the facial growth is completed by 6 years of age,  90 % of the growth is achieved by 12 years of age, and 100% by 18 years of age.

Prevention or early interception of orofacial myofunctional disorders are paramount in the early years but structural and functional improvement are possible at any age.

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will instruct his patient in care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.” – Thomas Edison
